The European olive is a long-lived evergreen tree, 6-8m tall, which with its light gray, smooth bark and silvery-green leaves is a special decorative element in any garden. It blooms in May. Its fruit is the familiar olive, eaten while still green, but turning black later when ripe. It loves hot sun and is not fussy about soil. It tolerates drought well. It is sensitive to frost, but its winter hardiness extends to -15°C. A perfect choice as a potted plant, so that when winter comes, we can move the plant to a safe place.
